I just received a Telsat 1023 with extra channels. The radio keys up and shows wattage BUT no modulation.
I have tried other mics but still no mod! Can you give me some idea where to start to look for the problem?

Thanks
Ernie

The PA switch has given many a tech heartburn .....

If you know the audio hot pin try seeing if you can hear anything if you put a wire/probe on it.

Speaking of audio i'm asuming that it is receiving ..... If it is then that rules out the audio amp and leaves you with the mike preamp ckt.

99% of thoes radios had dynamic mikes with no preamps if all else fails you can try using a speaker for a mike.

An't broken radios FUN .......

Does your radio receive a signal?
Do you hear audio coming from the speaker?

I had a Lafayette Telsat SSB-140 which had RF output on AM (4w carrier, but no modulation on AM or on SSB. Also, the S-meter indicated a received signal but no audio would be heard through the speaker. I found the audio chip was bad and replaced it. All works fine now.
Perhaps you have a similar problem?

You are positive that it is not a mic or mic socket problem. Receive works normal.
It keys up, shows a little wattage?
I would be replacing the RF final and or driver final. good luck
KEEP IT REAL!
