WELL I PICKED UP THIS 77 AS A PARTS RADIO REALLY, BUT ONCE I GOT IT HOME I STARTED TINKERING WITH IT AND GOT IT GOING. WELL ALMOST.
FIRST I HAD TO GET IT ON FREQ ON AM,USB,LSB, DONE ND GOOD TO GO
NEXT I HAD TO REPLACE THE LED CHANNEL READOUT, (SOMEBODY DID A BUTCHER JOB TRYING TO INSTALL A BLUE ONE)
NEXT I TUNED AND INSTALLED THE 1N4001, REPLACED DRIVER AND BOTH FINALS, AND THE BIG REG ON THE BACK RIGHT SIDE #BG754 AND THE SMALL ONE JUST IN FRONT OF IT D471 PART NUMBERS. THEY WERE GETTING A LITTLE TO HOTT FOR ME.
NOW MY PROBLEM IS THIS, I CANT GET OVER 15W PEAK ON AM AND ABOUT 17W PEAK ON SSB, I HAVE CLIPPED THE LIMITER, PUT A NEW ONE IN. REMOVED THE 4001, TUNED THE DRIVER AND FINAL B TO ALIGNMENT SPECS. AND STILL NO DIFF.
MY QUESTION IS THIS, WHAT ELSE IN THERE WOULD LIMIT THE PEAK FORWARD SWING? DID I HIT SOMETHING? OR MISSING SOMETHING? NOTHING ELSE IS RUNNING HOTT (THAT I CAN SEE/FEEL) NOTHINGS ACTING FUNNY, RADIO DOES NOT DRIFT (WELL NO MORE THAN A NORMAL GALAXY) SO I'M A LITTLE LOST. IS THERE SOMETHING THAT NORMALLY GOES BAD IN LINE SOMEWHERE THAT I CAN CHANGE TO ELIMINATE THIS PROB? I GOT ABOUT 6HRS OF WORK INTO IT NOW SO NATURALLY I WANT TO FINISH IT UP. ANY HELP YOU GUYS CAN PROVIDE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
