I bought a used Cobra 2000. When the unit is on, the speaker emits a steady tone similar to morse code, but steady. You can still hear stations under the tone, but barely. The tone is really loud. I tried all connecions, SP1, SP2, aux, headphones. I noticed some idiot butchered the speaker switch trying to add channels to the MB8734! I am in the process of restoring the speaker switch circuit board to original to start. Any input is appreciated.

Maybe if you tried a different mic or inspected all mic connections for debris or faulty wiring.
