I recently acquired a Galaxy 600 tube amp that was never was used, from 1991 I believe. It is pristine and my tech had tested it; there was no manual with it and I am new to the tubers. Was wondering if anyone would have a copy or can point me in the right direction. I have it coupled with a Cobra 2000 ; reports so far have been good (on radio checks) dead keying appx 130 swinging to 300 on low with an SWR of 1:1 (with HBF 500 Digital meter).
Tubes look good (30KD6 Toshiba, three) but wondering about the comfortable range to run it? Also I would like to pick up a spare set of tubes and was wondering if anyone knew a source? (perhaps someone you have dealt with?)I have been reading some of the old posts on how to tune a tube amp but found it rather confusing.... different methods, etc... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Joe K

rfparts.com is a good online store to buy tubes.

You set tune and load in the middle.
Deadkey the radio 1 or 2 watts, adjust tune back and forth to find max output. Unkey for a few seconds. Deadkey again and adjust load back and forth to find max output.
Then repeat the procedure. Each time you tune up a little better.
When you change channels you will have to adjust tune a little.
I'm not a tube pro but I do know it is not a good idea to run the amp as hard as you can because high plate currents will burn the tubes up.
Go easy and keep it cool and you should be fine.
KEEP IT REAL!
