So check this out, I will be trying to take some pictures of this "super wacked packed" scam. I get a call last night to go check on a friends general lee, the recive just died i figured it was the wire that had fallin of speaker. Was right< so i hook to meter and see that this thing is keying up at over 15 WATT'S OMG.... Ok so now i start looking around 10AWG PRMARY WIRE RUNNING ACROSS THE FOIL SIDE OF THE BOARD CAP, LIMITERS JUMPERS HACKED OUT I MEAN RIPPED. So now i proceed to turn this things dead key down(i wont key up four more than two min before sqealing, getting so HOT cant touch it. well i am SOOOOOO glad i got all my stuff from COPPER. i have looked in and tested all my equipment from here and it is usally 99.9% perfect and the .1% is usally handeld with great custermer service . and i called this MIKE AT RAR AND HE SAID THAT THE SERIAL NUMBER THAT I GAVE HIM OFF THIS DUDES RECIPT is A """COMPITITION RADIO NOT TO KEY DOWN FOR LONG OMG WHAT AN IDIOT. well the kid dont get nothing from it but a radio that looks like it was shiped to a electrical component destrying factory. I AM NOT TRYING TO BAD MOUTH ANYBODY WITH THIS POST ONLY TO SHOW THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF "SO CALLED TECH'S" OUT THERE IN MY OPINION THEY ARE TECHNICLY TRANED IN BUILDING BANK ACCOUNTS OFF THE BACK OFF HOBYEST...............

I have been after some pictures of what this "SWP" is all about but no one seems to have done it. I suppose the only up side in this is at least they had the decency to keep a file on this particular radio to let the owner know it is a "COMP" model. Can't wait to see the inside of one of these.

Bob.

Golden_screw_driver .....

Up untill 1982 to work on a CB radio you had to have a FCC license. The tech had to certify that the CB radio was within FCC spects.

AFTER 1982 the FCC did away with this and the OWNER/USER of the radio had to take the hit if you got caught it was YOUR fine no matter who worked on the set.

SO they can wack even super WACK your radio all they want WITH NO LEGAL RECOURSE ..... Try taking one of them to court .... lots of luck.

Kinda gives you a warm and cozzy feeling ..... NOT.

Bruce,....
I just think it is crazy how pepole actually think that sombody can take a stock radio and claim it to be a comp radio, Well i have been to 20 or so jacksonville pitbull keydowns and a comp radio is usally a cobra 29 or simular radio with 20,000 watts behind it. that my opinoin of comp. but it kills me knowing that new pepole getting in to the hobby fall for these scams it is just nutz. for example there is a "radio tech" in local town of bridgewater and this guy sells 148gtl's for $500, ok so what do you get a standerd channel conversion witch my 12 year old nephew could do, some ripping of components and an echo board installed, OK so buyer beware but if the buyer dosent know any better they buy it. later on down the road when pepole start lol at him cuz he spent this much for a Cobra 148gtl he gets discouraged and either leaves the hobby or gets into a brawl with the pepole telling him he payed to much. i have been around and in radios sense 1979 in one way or another my whole family is licenced operators i am the only one to stay on the CB side. so i am no tech by any means and will never claim to be i can fix alot of stuff but still get stumped with alot of stuff, but i know the difference from walking in to HACK CENTRAL and a real tech. if i walk in and dont see a single piece of equipment i am walking out. It just shows that you can get all the info in the world on any particular radio on the WEB but nobody investagates them, i know when i buy a new car i just dont go to a dealer and let him pick it and no test drive that would be stupid, i just want the newbies to be aware of what they are buying and from whom they are buying it from, the economy is crappy right now and not everyone can go and blow that money that they are spending on these so called COMPETITION RIGS. sorry if this tured into a rant but BUY YOUR EQUIPMENT FROM A PLACE THAT HAS BEEN IN IT FOR YEARS LIKE COPPER AND DONT FALL FOR THE SCAMS THERE IS NO SUCH THING OFF THE SHELF OR MADE BY A TECH WORTH $30-40 BUCKS TO SO CALL BEEF THE RADIO WITH A SPEACIL MOD KIT BULL!!!. GET A GOOD RADIO AND A AMP IF YOU REALLY THINK YOU NEED ONE SAVE YOUR MONEY, INVESTAGTE, READ ON IT, AND MAKE THE DESICION.....

AGAIN SORRY FOR THE RANT BUT LIKE I SAID I CAN NOT STAND SEE PEPOLE GET RIP OFF BY OTHERS IT IS NOT RIGHT WE ARE IN THIS BIG GAME TOGETHER AND NOT AGAINST EACH OTHER

A real tech would have installed better receiver filtering maybe even come up with a way to put DSP in. If you cannot hear them you cannot work them. A real tech might have installed a speech processer board to cleanly increase modulation. The idea that you can take a average 5 watt cb set SUPER WACK IT and melt the tops of trees with it's new transmit power output is as much garbage as the way it will sound on the air. There is a thing called HEAT and the difference between power input to the transmitter and it's output becomes HEAT. Take a 25 watt iron hold it in your hand and tell me hot 25 watts gets ... Now modify a 5 watt CB radio to 100 watts then figure the best you can do is about 80% efficiency and let me know just how hot do you think it's going to get ? DAMN HOT …..
