i have an s-9 i bought from copper new around 4 months ago. and a ts667v. well i am running the s-9 w/667v driver dissabled and a wilson 5000 roof mount in an s-10, hitaci 200amp after market alt and two optima yellow tops in the bed. with the power down on the s-9 and the top gun off all is great the second the top gun is on i start to get a high pitch sqeal, turn the dead key up a bit and it goes away, but now amp is keying too high still get forward swing. it just started doing this the other day for no reason and is driving me nuts. i ended up rewiring everything all 2 awg to the amp for power, welded a bolt to the fram for ground but still doing this , my last resort will be sending it to a certified magnum repair but if it aint the radio i dont want to waste sam's time or money.... any help would be great

» OMEGAFORCE S-45 and MAGNUM S-3 /S-6/S-9 AMPLIFIER TIPS!

The Following tips are Direct from Sam Lewis at RF Limited and Designed to give you 100% use of your Radio's when using an Amplifier with them.

Owner's of the MAGNUM RADIO's S-3, S-6, S-9 and S-45 Omega Force and other Radio's that will be using the TOP GUN BOARD, need to read the Following Owner's Tip's.

TIP #1

AMPLIFIER USE with the NEW TOP GUN BOARD!

NOTICE!

These Radio's were NOT designed to be used with 2 Pill Amplifiers!

These New Radio's with the NEW TOP GUN BOARD'S are designed to be used with an AMPLIFIER that has at Least 4-2879's or more, that need's NO Driver / Exciter Stage.

The Ideal Amplifier for use with the Omega Force S-45 or Magnum S-3, S-6, S-9 is the Texas Star 500 with 4- 2SC2879's. With NO DRIVER / EXCITER Stage.

These Radio's with the TOP GUN BOARD were designed to eliminate the need or use of a Driver / Exciter.

For use with other Amplifier's that Use a Driver/Exciter such as the Texas Star 667 that uses 1-SC2290 driving 4-2SC2879's you need to READ the following instructions.

Be Very careful that the Power to the Driver / Exciter is set to NO more than 4 watts and NO More than 12 watts PEP.

Otherwise you will have too much Gain going into the Driver.

It is highly recommended that you have a Professional Set these adjustments for you.

These Tip’s are to help you achieve Top Performance and help you to avoid any problem's that may arise.

As Sam continues to inform me of additional Tip's / Trick's on the RF Limited Product's, I will be posting them for the Owner's of these New radio's.

Hope this help's,
Lon~Tech808

Tech 808:

Lon,I bought a Magnum S980,I'm sorry I never bought it from coppers now!!!

It keys up dead wattage, it has no mod. getting
out,,,though it is heard through the talkback...

Wattage is not controlable with power or Mod.on
or off...it was set up to a little willie mag.ant. with a 1.5 swr.

Has any other forum members experienced this
problem????? btw.it's less than 90 days old..

Mike

Mike, Might try a better antenna. My opinion on the Lil Wil antennas is that they are not very good antennas for a radio like an S-9. Especially a high power radio. It is possible that one of the mosfets have gone bad. Do you see any swing on the S-9 meter and have you tried an external watt meter to check output? Also what do you mean by dead wattage?

If you have not already, get that warranty info mailed out to RF Limited that came in the box with the S-9 when you bought it! They are good to the customer and you even get a cool Magnum hat to show off to your buds!
good luck. hope I could help
KEEP IT REAL!
