Do you mean after your friend unkeys the mic there is a delay before the receive audio comes back on?
Could he have an amp inline?
Any mods been done to the radio? Or any mic mods or talkback mods he may have done to the radio? Tried a different mic?
Just tossin some ideas at ya.

Do a Google search for 2510 and 2600 there is a site dedicated to these radios and there is a fix for the latency in the AGC causing the RX to be a bit slow coming back to life.If you can't find the site email me and I will send you the link.
