I have a KL40 mobile amp that when turned on it cuts down my receive by a couple of s-units. Does anyone know what would cause it. It did this straight out of the box after modification.... |

Soldered the unattached wire to S0-239. From the info that I have gathered that is the way they are made usable for cb use.. |

Strange I wonder what wire that is .......
I had one years ago for a small low power 10 meter FM radio ( ALINCO DR M03 the old one ) and I don't remember any mods needed ....... Mine worked right out of the box on 29.600 mhz ....
That unit should not cause problems on receive but has no preamp either.

Sounds like what you did was correct and the factory probably disconnects the feed to the so239 for legal reasons because most amps are illegal for sale in the US this is one of the ways around it and also they refer to them as cw transmitters lol.Most likely there is a problem with a relay or a switching transistor, I would send it back and try another one.
