Does anyone know if the Texas Star DX1600/Sweet Sixteen is broadbanded enough to work on any other amateur radio bands (other than 10 meters)? I could guess and say 12 meters, maybe, but how about 15, 20 and 40 meters? I plan on using a Bencher YA-1 low pass filter behind the amp to help with any harmonics this amp might produce.
_Also (before I actually start using this amp on air), is this amp, in conjunction with the Bencher YA-1 low pass filter, "clean" to use on the amateur bands? Thanks. |

A low pass will not help this amp.I would not use this on amature at all.I have people using CB amps on 10 meter.They stand out and are not acceptable at all.

I would'nt use it much above or below the cb band since it has been modified.
For a cb amp is is about the cleanest of cb amps.
If your amp is right, a clean signal in produces a clean signal out.

i have a sweet 16, but havent hooke it up to either ham or my cb yet... from what i have read, you can use it on different bands, only if you have the appropriate "crystal" installed.. :S |
