Thanks Rich ! Copper wired it for me and it works fine with my Jumper to my Galaxy 2537 and RCI 2990, but squeals like the devil on the washington and Cobra 2000. Turned both mic gains down and still does it on those 2.Do you know of anyone that has had that mic work on a 2000 or uniden washington ? Thanks, Jim

I too ordered this mike this past weak and have the same problem. it seems that there is no switching off of the rx ground when the ptt button is pushed. had copper wire it. I checked the pins on the back of the mike and couldnt find a switching ground What could be wrong?? is it suppose to be that way? if so how do you get it to work with uniden washington with 5 pin?

I tried turning the gain off on the radio and the mike in manual mode it still will squeal loudly because the recieve is not switched off when transmitting. It came wired
pin 1 brown-audio
pin 2 shield
pin 3 white-common
pin 4 blue
pin 5 green-transmit

I switched the blue and white and get transmit but no recieve with an ohm meter i could find no ground that switches off when you transmit like my d104 tup9 does. could i have a defective mike? or is there a way to get it to work. I really want to use this mike. hopefully a tech will come in and help me out.
Thanks

UPDATE: called the copper tech today and found out there are some 5 pin washington and 2000 radios that this mike wont work with without modification.although a rare problem. I do have one of these older transitional radios. mine doesnt say uniden but has the five pins.although i could return it I still think this is a really cool looking mike and cant wait to try it and hear the difference compression makes.I guess its time for mr washington to have a younger brother lol. thanks Dale and copper tech for your response

I think it has to do with how the radio switches the recieve off when transmitting. they said they would take mine back but i kepted it to use on a newer base when i get it. on my radio the ground has to be switched off when transmitting or you get the squeal.my d104 has a triple switch inside that does this. with an ohm meter i couldnt find a wire that would do this on pin 3 the recieve.if anyone has a solution i would like to know.
Thanks

UPDATE..I GOT IT TO WORK!! I went to radio shack and bought a 12 volt SPDT pc relay for less than 5 bucks and then wired it in my radio by hooking the solenoid to 12v+ at the power volume switch and negative to pin 5 of the mike connector wich had a wire going to the squelch-pa switch so i soldered it there (easy hook up)I then cut the wire going from pin 3 (recieve) to the speaker and soldered them to the normaly closed legs of the relay and that was it. now when the ptt button is pushed the relay shuts down the speaker the same way my d104 did.WOOHOO now im playing with it on the air and already i get reports of clearer and louder audio and my d104 still works too with this simple mod. hope this helps those that have these older 5 pin configurations. mine is a washington with 5 pins three push buttons and says washington under the channel indicator and president on the speaker (no uniden label)Now lets try some skip :-) Chuck
