I have a wasington that was stored 2 years and worked fine.. took it out today to use and it has real low power on AM,,not even keying up.people within 8 or 10 miles can here me, but low. Dont show ANYTHING on my watt meter. recive works fine and ssb works fine. replaced 1969, still the same. It has pll8719
need help!!!!!

Have you tryed a different radio on the same coax, jumpers meter,antenna or anything else inline to see if maybe it's not the radio?
and if the radio been stored 2 years might wanna open it up and get the dust out of it.

i have been using my galaxy 2547,no trouble.
just thought i would try the washington for a while. and I tryed the radio on a dummy load just to rule out everything else..still wont key up.

Hey Bluebird...You can try turning VR6...That is the pot for AM power...Does ssb tx work...

yes I tryed VR6,and ssb tx works fine ,,modulation and recive is fine too...this radio got me stumped!!!!!!!!!!!

If mic is good, LSB and USB works fine, PA works this a stumper. Maybe suspect the mode switch for dust and debris so that you know it is working properly. Other than that it may need an alignment.

yes the mode switch can cause problems when it gets dirty had to clean mine after storage for a couple of years. it was real scratchy when changing modes and this showed up on am transmit too. took a while to figure it out after reports of scratch in my audio. but a good cleaning with electronic cleaner and computer air cleaner did the trick. wasnt easy this switch doesnt have access holes had to stand it on its face.give it a try..good luck

ok,,i cleaned the mode switch still nothing,,then I replaced the am regulator and now i have full power back BUT now i lost am modulation,, i still have alittle ssb modulation...

update,,problem fixed it was the am power regulator!!!
