I have a cobra 25 and would like to adjust the deadkey down to use with a small palomar amp.. can you explain to me the process of doing this? we have no local tech in my area, and I'm hoping that a rookie like myself can do it.. thanks

Since there are several models of the Cobra 25 ( LTD,GTL,Plus, etc) determine which one you have.
You could look over to the left and click on "Modification List" compiled by the good tech808 Lon.
Find which model Cobra 25 you have and click. The mods for that radio will appear. AM POWER is what you are looking for, sometimes there is more than one. Make very small adjustments with a non conductive tool while looking at the watt meter. Set your dead key with the mic gain at zero. Set your swing with mic gain at full. Set for highest swing while saying a long "audio" into the mic. Get some positive radio checks.
For most small amps a 1 or 2 watt deadkey is the most you want. Let it swing as high as you want or until you see amp watts your looking for. The Cobra 25 is a good combo for most small Palomar amps.

Magnum I have no idea what you have done already but to mod that raido try this:

MODULATION: adjust VR5 or cut or remove D9

AM OR DEAD KEY: you can adjust L10,L9,L8 you have to have to have a watt meter to find out wich one you want

I accept no responsibility for what you do with this information what ever you do just be careful and have fun
