I AM THINKING ABOUT GETTING A 667 FROM copperelectronics.com WILL THE UNIT BE READY TO USE ON AM,FM,AND SSB? IT SAYS YOU HAVE TO CHANGE CRYSTAL FOR DESIRED FREQUENCY RANGE. I WOULD BE USING THIS UNIT FOR 10-12 METER OPERATION AND WOULD NOT BE USING IT FOR CW OPERATION. I FIND VOICE MORE APPEALING.
I WOULD BE USING MY HR-2510 WITH THIS UNIT. I HAVE VARIABLE POWER AND WITH A 4 WATT DEAD CARRIER IT WILL SWING 10-15 WATTS RMS ON SSB. ON AM IT WILL DO MORE LIKE 10 WATTS RMS. I BELIEVE ON PEP THE RADIO DOES LIKE 35-40 WATTS ON SSB AND 30-35 ON AM. I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS IS TO MUCH DRIVE FOR THE TEXAS STAR DX667V? I USED TO OWN A DX500V AND IT RAN WELL WITH THAT BUT I AM LOOKING AT THE DX667V AS A BETTER BUY WITH ADDED 2290 DRIVER. ALL OPINIONS AND SUGGESTIONS WELCOME. |

actually most exports have too much drive
for the 667.the 500v will hasndle the 2510
all day long.the 667 is better suited for a plain cb and 12 pep watts thats about all

as dale says.....stick with the 500v, leaving the radio turned all the way 'up'. the 2510 will evntually kill the 667. low level modulation on the 2510, then turned down to use with a 667, and you could find yourself lacking in AM audio department. 40 watts PEP into the 2290 driver will result in an early demise. |

Thanks, I went ahead and got the 500v, I had one in the past as was very pleased with its performance. |
