Just out of curiousity I have a line on one of these thats never been opened up. I have found a local "tech" that tells me he can do a switch mod to add channels and I was wondering what I could expect for frequencies as I'm more interested in lower than higher although 40 both ways would be perfect. I trust the guy to do the work as he works on transmitters and receivers for a local broadcast station and has worked on my 10 meter radios in the past with excellent results. I would just like to know the range I can expect so I don't waste my money buying the radio and having the work done if I'll only get a few lowers and mostly uppers which as I recall was usually the case without the Expo kit although I must admit I was just a kid so my memory of how all that worked could be slightly suspect. I want to get back on the air but don't want to get to antsy and waste money by hurrying. Bullseye/CEF#110/Mem. Since 1/18/2002

Why would you want to add channels? You are not allowed to talk on them. You say that you run 10 meters. You'll lose your Ham license. But you already know this. |

If you have a line on a Washington radio that has never been opened I would suggest you purchase it and not mutilate it with modifications. This radio is an very good 11 meter radio and will serve you well for years and only increase in value if untouched with modification that you could just purchase a 10 meter radio with frequencies opened up. |
