hello when i hear people talking about running amps the talk about deadkey must be 4 watts or less. Is it possible to have too much swing that will over drive a amp?? all i hear is about the deadkey

EX: dead key of 3 and a swing of 50 going into a 100 watt amp.

I did hear a local who had a lot of 'swing' but when he got a good distance away he sounded like he was on sideband and I'd miss the first part of his words until his 'swing' caught up with his voice, needle would bounce around like crazy, told me I had bad ears lol.
