The transceiver can be connected through an optional CT-17 CI-V LEVER CONVERTER to a personal computer equipped with an RS-232C port. The Icom Communication interface-V (CI-V) controls the following function of the transceiver.

To distinguish equipment, each CI-V transceiver has its own Icom standard address in hexadecimal code.
The IC-706mkIIg's address is 58H

To Set the address: With the Radio off hold the LOCK button and power the radio on. You are now in set mode. Turn the M-CH knob till you reach 34 on the display (CI-V Address). Now power down the radio and power up again. The IC-706mkIIg is now ready to be displayed on the computer LCD.
