I have an 810E with a matching Realistic TRC-465 mobile rig. I also have a Galaxy DX949 (mobile) and was thinking of getting the matching base, a DX2547.

I plan on doing the RX improvement mod to both Galaxies (1 transistor and 4 diodes).

I'm mainly interested in SSB, but use AM more often. Is the Galaxy base any improvement over my 810 (AM or SSB)?

I'm just getting back into CB, so I don't really have a good feel for which of my mobiles is better and can't use this to help me decide.

I have owned both the 810e and the 3547. The 810e is a great radio, and works good. But the 2547 is better on SSB in my opinion. I found it to be a good talker with a little tweaking as well. And the extra channel mod is so simple on the 2547. But the 810e is a classic, so I think either one would do well. Just depends on which you like to talk on. Ad for me, I would go with the 2547!
