I installed this box in my van this week-end and I've ran into a problem. After talking for about 20 minutes, off and on talking, the box blows the inline fuse to the power switch. I'm supplying the box with enough electrical power. The swr on the box is about a 1.9 and it swings all the way back to a 1.3. This is with one back door open to the van and driving it with a 15 watt dead-key from the mod-v. The box is dead-keying 500 and swinging about 1kw. Does anyone have an idea of why this might be happening? Thanks

Tracker 293, What kind of antenna are you running? Can it handle that amount of power? Try to drop the dead key down to 4 watt's and see if that will help. Also make sure the ground connection's are good at the radio and antenna. The last question is what kind of coax do you run? I would run rg 213 from the sweet 16 to the antenna. Maybe some of this will help answer your question's

I am running a Wilson 5k magnet mount and I changes the coax out with LMR-240 so there would not be an issue with rf output. I believe I have figured out my problem though. I still din't think the box is gettin' enough power. I've taken the driver out of line and just driving it with 8 watts from my radio, RCI 2950DX, and this hasn't happened again. Thanks for the input.

Tracker 293, Great to hear. I like the rci radio's and I have one for a base and 2950dx for the mobile as well. You most likely need the 2970n2. It can be set for a 2 watt dead key and swing to about 150 watt. This will make a very good combination and will work great. I hope this information might help. Have a great day 293.
