I have noticed that there are alot of mobiles and base stations that can produce huge amounts of power but the real operators use 1 watt or less to talk around the (block- the world) and are crazy about signal to noise/micro volt & band width abilities of recievers as well as antenna efficiencies and abilities.

His point is low power works just as well as high power if the propagation is good.
In other words low or high power, if the propagation isn't there any amount of power you use isn't going to get you anywhere.

My self on HF ( Ham ) Run under 100 watts or 100 watts to the max. nothing over 100 watts. and even then again no propagation nothing hear or to be heard.

No 1w staying at 1w. As I have said before years back I worked MIR on 2m using a 1W handheld with a rubber duck antenna, beating out a guy 400 uyards from me whgo was running 400w, and can regularly work the Space Station using 5w a half-wave antenna, while mobile along I5 between Salem and Portland.

Anyone else notice the big tube he's holding in his avatar?

I don't use more power than I need but I usually need it all when the other locals are dxing. Running 1kw is like bringing a knife to a gun fight around here.
