i hope someone can help.i have a old 148gtl and i'm running a palomar 250 low drive and it sounds distortid on am/ssb my antenna is wilson 5000 1.1 match.my power out put from radio is 2 watts.tryed shorter jumper and longer jumper.my mogulation set at 100%any help would be great

Try turning down the Mic a tad when you run the amplifier

What does the watt meter say behind the amp? If your dead key is too high it will sound bad. Set radio so that the amp dead keys 1/4 of what it swings pep. If it's still distorted try turning the mic gain down. I had a hacked up grant xl that sounded distorted if I turned the mic gain above 3:00. These are awesome radios but a guy can get in there with the golden screwdriver and ruin them.
