thanks press man. We were able to confirm the power final dead, so I ordered another. Does not look like any solder joints were effected, but when the final went, my recieve dropped out as well...... Bases are hard to find and the only tech around me is getting up there in years but he is claiming the finals have nothing to do with the receive. Seems I saw somewnere that they can effect receive?? That's what i am needing some help with. I may box it up and send it off if anyone can recommend a good shop, I am south of Dallas about 30 milles.

Great link and useful info, Thanks pressman.

392,
I've seen it happen before but got blazed for posting it(final takes out receive). Anyway, that link I posted for you makes reference to trying to get too much out of the CBS 1000 and it taking out the RX. It's one of those things that shouldn't happen but has. The alignment procedures are on that link too. As for the best shop, ask around the forums, if your guy has the equipment have him align it after the repair.

Pressman, I think that is exactly what has happened. That radio is OK byt it is not a screamerm however I like it and want to get a lot more use out of it. Bases are harder to find these days. I will search for a tech, would like to reverse some of the mods, and just run a small amp like the KLV60.

The tech did put a used final in it, and it is working for now, but there have been some other clippings in there, that should probably be reversed.

Will shop around for a tech and any recommendations are appreciated. I have no problem mailing it out for repair!
