After a long storage radio now receives as if the signals were ones you would hear during an Aurora. It is very garbled,but understandable. Maybe a cap?

Driver-Final bias current being off spec can cause distortion.......

does the radio also have an abnormally high noise level. bad filter in the IF can do that on RX...

The noise level seems normal. AM sounds normal. Not sure if the filter would go bad from sitting.

Thanks I will check it. If its not open maybe a bad solder joint?? I would like to get this rig working again. It's nice except for this problem.
