my friends 520 has a problem with the meter on the radio ,he turns on the radio and after about 5 min. the meter slowly keeps rising until it pegs and stays there, yet radio functions properly.it will stay that way even after being turned off for a while. also the meter lights burned out at the same time. anyone have any answers on what the problem may be please help. thanks!

Have him check the RF Gain, if turned all the way down (to the left) the meter will rise to it's fullest. How good is RX? This RF Gain works some what like a Squelch and the more turned down (to the left) the higher the meter goes up to block out very strong signals.
