First off, thanks for having me.

I have a Cobra 29 Plus that was given to my wife a few years back. As far as I know it is unmodified. I hooked it up in place of a working CB that I have in my Jeep Cherokee. The antenna I run is a 102" fiberglass whip w/ spring. The radio receives just fine, but does not transmit any sound. I have a Suzuki samurai with a Uniden PRO510XL parked about 30' away. When I try to transmit from the 29PLUS, the S-meter on the Uniden lights up, but no sound comes through. I have tries a known good mike on the 29PLUS, and still the same. It seems like it transmits a signal, but no voice coming over. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to try and fix this. I am not willing to pay to have it fixed, but don't mind diving into it and changing components out myself. I guess I can't make it any worse. I plan on using this radio as a base station at my cabin, if I can get it working right. Any help is appreciated.

FWIW, the only test equipment I own are a few different DMM's.

Welcome to the forum Mat!
Take the case off the Cobra and key into a dummy load or antenna with the knobs toward you, Feel the audio chip for heat (IC4)also check for bad solder joints on solder side of board. Also check potentiometers and switches, it could be the Dynamike. Check your E-mail

welcome to fourm . first off when trying to
solve radio issues i always start with the basic
simple stuff as im no tech. but i do try to fix
as much as i can. heres where id start
1 check mic gain on 29 make sure its turned fully to the left
2/check squelch on recieving radio chances are
ya close enough its not gonna interferere
but it does show these signs
3/ try a power mic with mic gain all way up
and slowly turn up power mic you should hear a
increases in audio if not then
4/ rv 4 is the audio adjustment in all 29s ive seen this works like the mic gain one way is full audio other way no audio . someone could have tried to tune it and turned it wrong way
after all this then it might get more techicanial and start doing what pressman posted
