Something has got to either be wrong with my D104 M6C or the wiring for the Magnum 257 is different. Just purchased a Lincoln II yesterday at copper was told it is wired the same as a magnum 257. I'm by no way calling the guy a liar. But here's my situation. 257 worked fine with the above described Mic. Now when using it on the Lincon II the frequency drops 10kHz (that's where vfo step is set) every few times I key/unkey. I REALLY DON'T THINK THIS IS A RADIO ISSUE BECAUSE THE STOCK MIC DOES NOT CAUSE THIS. JUST CAN'T STAND STOCK MICS LOL. I notice in the Lincon manual pin 5 is ground. On the microphone in question shield and blue are soldered. Does one of these need removed? HELP PLEASE!!! |

also on magnum theres a pin that has voltage
i dont think the lincoln has a pin that has
voltage. that pin SHOULD be removed if not needed

1/ audio
2/rx
3/up down or n/a
4/n/a
5/ground
6/power supply. with your mic this isnt needed
so its the same as magnum .id make sur theres NOTHING on pin 6.heres how id wire the mic
1/white
2/n/a
3/red
4/n/a
5/shield/blue this IS correct

Here's how mic is presently wired
1. White
2. Black***Is this Needed?***
3. Red
4. Pin removed from plug
5. Shield & Blue
6. Pin Removed from plug
The only discrepancy I see from what you mentioned is the Black wire connected at Pin 2, I am understanding that Astatic refers to Black as receive control. Not sure what this means. |

the black wire is only needed in radios that lose
sound from speaker when mic is unplugged.mostly
older radios like a uniden grant/washington.
so its really not needed. i cant say that unsoldering it gonna help ya though.i found mic wiring diagrams on both pins 3&4 are somewhat
slightly different. heres the 257
1 audio-white
2.rx-n/a
3.tx-red
4.down n/a
5.ground-shield
6.volts-n/a
on the lincoln pin 3 says tx up/down and pin 4 is empty n/a.hopefully more will chime in
