I have a Uniden 980SSB and was wondering which amp would work best with this radio, Texas Star 350 or Texas Star 500.

Both will work great. Depend's on how much power you want.

the 350 will be better of the two. the 980 wont be able to drive the 500 to full out put. .however the t.s 667v has a built in driver and that 980 will be a perfect match.

you,ll get full output from the 350 with that radio . probaly just a little too much even.
id personally recommend the ts 500 for that radio

So with the 4 watt output I won't have a problem with the ts 500 or the ts 350, the ts 500 was a little more than i wanted to spend right now but if that's what will work better without causing a problem I'll look at the 500...Thanks

what it comes down to is how power each amp can handle. different amps will take different power
the 350 only has 2 transisters [pills] the 500 has 4. so naturally the 500 will take more input.as far as input 4 watt isnt what ya looking at im looking at full pep power and 40 watts input is really just a tad too much for the 350.if you really want the 350 then my best advice is just use like a cobra 29 or uniden 77 or similar.
