Hello. I am having an issue with my radio. I do not believe that it is transmitting. My radio is bone stock, with a Solarcon 2000 vertical. The RF/S meter shows full output when I key the mic, and the TX light comes on, however when I switch to the MOD meter, it shows zero modulation, no needle deflection when speaking. This is on AM, and USB and LSB. I have tried multiple mics, including the stock hand mic, no change. I get no responses on calls for radio checks, I do not think anyone can hear me. I disconnected my antenna and connected to a dummy load, same thing, so I can rule out the antenna. Not sure what is going on? |

if the modulation meter is a external one id say it not working,if its a internal meter then id say its not properly aligned inside radio.seeing as how ya tried several mikes we probaly can rule out mikes NOT wired properly.hook up another radio with no coax use the washington with only a dummyload and see if u can hear yourself on the other end dale/a.k.a.hotrod cef426 cvc#64 454 [dx numbers] 38lsb

Check the caps around the audio chip/transistor and replace also check the audio transistor. The 385 chassis have been known to smoke that area. Once you get it going, recap the whole radio. 73 Pressman
