Anyone here familiar with the 878 ( AST878DM ) ? I got one from a friend , its almost brand new and is wired correctly for 5 pin Washington / Cobra etc... When I plug it into my 5 pin Uniden Washington , and key the mic , it squeals like a oinker . I took the cover off and looked at the base and see the wires going up to the element , a red and a black and a shield ! A little different then my 1104c !
Red and black go on the element of course but I see the shield is cut off before the element . I know there's plenty of these mics working on Cobra's etc... Whats missing ? different about this wiring , are you guys using the shielding up top ? Thanks for any tips / leads , much appreciated !
