What do you guys recomend to produce a constant sound for adjusting modulation, and SSB power??? Thanks... |

a steady whistle will work fine for am mod.
for ssb, use a whistle to find max power on wattmeter. then use a steady ahhhhh to set voice to about 1/3 of maxon that meter. the highest that you want to go is about 1/2 of max. you may have to shift between the 2 to get this evened out. especially for the rci/gal radios. and your actual max power to meet this may drop a few watts.
most say to turn alc control wide open. then the compression factor is very high. not due to the alc kicking in, but due to the fact that it isn't. the rf trans are saturating with a small audio input and the peaks have nowhere to go. this gives loud audio, but not the cleanest. so i guess it is really dependent on what you want. i have tested this with a scope, so i know that it works. |

A guitar tuner would probably work and you could pick a tone close to your natural voice if you listen to the tuner for awhile. |
