Can you mount a fan on a melaka? I like my equipment to run cool and no chance of overheat.

I would imagine that the fan kit for the Galaxy rack-style bases would work. Do you need a fan on a single final radio?

Thats it, I have a Melaka and an RCI2990, look on the back of you melaka, look for a RCA jack labeled 'REC', inside the radio, unsolder the wires going to that jack, tape them up and tuck them somewhere where they won't get in the way of other radio parts, then solder a wire from the on/off side of the on/off switch (not the constant 13.8 volt side), and solder it to the middle part of the 'REC' jack. Then solder another wire from the outer part of the RCA jack to a ground, preferably a board ground. There you have it, now mount the fan kit on the back, plug it in to the 'REC' jack, and when the power is turned on, your fans sould come on, when it is off, then fans turn off too! If they stay on with the power off, then check where you soldered the first wire on the on/off switch! Thats it, '73s :)!

SintronicCPU,

Go to the Copper home page and download the Mod Form, fill it out with this mod you just described and E-Mail it to tech307@copperelectronics.com.

Sounds like a good entry in the upcoming series.
