Got an eagle 2000 needs work on am transmit, but can't go without.Whats best base radio with 6 digit freq.counter that will drive a boomer 400 to its optimum.Right now I'm getting 360 watts avg. with my eagle 2000.A boomer 600 is esentialy a boomer 400 driven with a sd1446,so whats the diff.if i drive it with the output of RCI 2990 (2sc2290)? 70watts as opposed to 80watts?HUH????????????

A 2990 will overwhelm that amp. I'd suggest either a 2985 or a Galaxy 2517--oops you said 6 digit freq counter---all signs point to rci2980.
