I'm so confused, there's so much selection,I cant decide on a dual final base with guts like my eagle 2000.I hear of improved ears, more eficient finals,I've got a good boot so dont need hi out put final. When I got my 2000 all you had was saturns and eagles and RCI's,now you got more bases than carter's got pills.I'm so confused (wimper, wimper).Oh did I forget moneys no object and I need that klv 550 for my pop.

If you're into ssb my guess would be the base version of the 2950dx, I think that's the 2985dx?

Quit screwing around and just charge a new FT-847 Yaesu. You get 6/2/440/HF/Cordless Phone/800Mhz and everything else. If you can't spend the $1,000 for the 847 get a Kenwood TS-850SAT (Full REAL 120 watts) for about $650. That radio is the mother of radios on 11 meters. Blow the little cb'rs away...

The Yaesu FT847 sucks on AM. I don't think it matters much, that's too much radio to be wasting time with on the regualr 40 anyway, but there are some AM guys on 80 meters that would rip me apart for having weak audio down there! 307, do you know if anything can be done to improve it? I have the Yaesu MD100 desk mic, and following the instructions, I get maybe 10-20 percent modulation at best. If I use the stock mic and really munch it, I can only get about 25 percent. this is trying it with the recommended 25 watt carrier, but Ive tried it with lower carriers and see minimal improvement. On the air people say it sounds incredibly quiet.

307, I have been doing just that. Lot's of info, nothing much about AM modulation improvement. I thought that since you seem to be a fan of the radio, you might personally take an interest. Perhaps my vendor can help me out. Seriously, we are not talking about the difference between early stage and high-level modualtion, we're talking it REALLY SOUNDS TERRIBLE! The one suggestion so far is to run a d104 into the afsk jack on the back of the radio. That sounds a little wacky to me.

The 2527 is based of the old 2950. The 2985 is based of the new 2950dx.

What bases does copper have in stock which can be set up just like the eagle 2000?I like the continuous tuning on tx/rx with clarifier.I see that 2527,rci2980,and rci2990 are discontinued, are there any similar radios going to fill the void.More importantly I need one that will slide at least 7kcs on tx/rx to keep up with my father-in-law.Thats why all the questions,I got the vol.7 book to mod. the 2000,is there a tape or book for rci2985 and is it at least as good as eagle2000.Four pin mikes are fantastic.
