----I've been trying to fix my P400's no audio problem for the last couple of days now, and I was speaking into my microphone (Astatic 636L) and noticed that when I talk on SSB(haven't tried A.M. yet), the metal strain relief kind of shocks me! What can I do to remedy this problem? I don't like knowing I could be mildly shocked everytime I choose to talk to someone, haha. Thanks for your response.

How much power are you running? If you ARE running power , do you have the positive AND negative wires grounded direct to the battery? I'll bet you have the ground (black) to the chassis. Also who wired the mic? Is the shielded wire the audio?

----Thanks for your help, 307. I've never had the radio peaked, so I am assuming approximately 12 watts on SSB. I am running this on A.C. power, and not on a battery. The microphone came pre-wired to fit this particularradio. Whether it is wired correctly or not, I don't know, but according to Astatic's website, SHIELD goes to pin number 1 (so does the blue wire). Sorry I can't tell you anymore than that. I'm not very electronically and mechanically inclined, hehe.
The weird thing is, I put the cover back on the radio, and the "shock" has stopped. I don't see how that would have made a difference, though.
Thanks.

having the cover off the radio CAN make a world of difference. My dwight D squeels like a pig when I have the cover off, but doesn't when it's on. I think it screws up the grounding somehow...

My Personal belief is, when it bites you, Bite the dang thing back. :)
