ok i picked up a beautiful looking galaxy 2527 base and everything works great...except the signal meter. ah but heres the situation. the s meter works but doesnt go above 10 out of 60 db even if i key next to it.. oh but before you say turn up vr1 or vr2 i tried that!! it doesnt make any difference. i turned them both ways and it doesnt increase or decrease either the ssb/am s meter signal! any ideas? i mean its not a hugh problem as the radio stomps a nice mudhole in dx i just like things perfect..lol. thanks for any advice. ps all my other radios show at least a 30 db while this radio shows a 8 for s unit but it sounds like a 30 db or better!! |

Is the receiver actually working at low signals? It sounds like it needs an alignment. You want me to do it for you? email me direct at tech307@copperelectronics.com 307 |

youve got mail 307......nope taz my old radio ranger 2980 runs like a champ . granted 2 of the latches that have springs on the nb/anl switch and the r beep have come unlatched and now they flap but the radio is loud and proud! this radio now the 2527 is almost as loud but in nicer shape. its just a weird thing there taz.....later. |

Those "springs" can be fixed in 5 minutes. Bend up the plate in the back of the switch just enough to get the spring out of the rocker. Pull the spring apart a little. Put it back in the rocker and bend the plate back down securing it with the 4 little tabs. I do it all the time... 307 |

ill have to try that cause it is a lil annoying sometimes that the whole radio rules and kicks butt but 2 switches fall down and either turn the nb off or the ridger beep on. lol ill try that this weekend and see what happens thanks..... |

well i opened the radio and looked at the switches from the back and have no idea how in the name of ..... you could ever get those tabs to come off and better yet the plate that seems to be almost welded on! ill just leave the switches alone before i screw it up lol. i only took of the top cover and looked at the back of the switches but it looks like a very breakable deal . oh well it still works so i wont mess with it. thanks 307 for the suggestion. ps the 2527 is in the mail. later |
