Hey 307, I have a question regarding my Galaxy Saturn. I've been using this radio for about a month now. Haven't had any problems, other than a light bulb in my RX meter go out. I run a D-104 Silver Eagle with it. When I talked to the guy I purchased radio from. He said it had a modulater kit installed. The radio has awesome swing on AM and excellent audio. The other day I keyed up the mic and as soon as I started to talk in mic, radio started squealing like a pig. I checked wires in four pin they looked fine. I run my D-104 at about a 1/8 of a turn open and mic gain on radio at about 1 oclock. If I turn my mic gain damn near to nothing it stops, but audio is weak. I'm running a Turner CS-1 Custom Special desk mic on it know. Barely open on it and my mic gain at about 10 oclock. It still squeals sometimes, but not all the time. I'm not not expert or anything but it sounds like I was over driving radio with mic. Why would it work fine for the month that I've been using radio, and all of a sudden start doing that. Any info on this situation would be appreciated greatly.....Thanks.....73's......

Well I've been tinkering around trying to cure problem. I noticed it only does this on AM. Works fine on SSB. I think I found cure. I noticed on my RF Power knob. It seems to have a short or something in it. When turning knob it seems to spike on meters. While keying up radio on AM and hearing squeall, I shook the RF Power knob and it would go away for a split second and then still squeall. I going to attemt a new knob. The numbers on knob or 043F 2kb. I was looking through some of my old junker radios looking for a knob(Anything to same a buck)and I found a similiar looking knob, but it is a 1kb. Is this a big difference from a 2kb. I hope this cures the problem.........C-ya....

A few shots of tuner cleaner in the pot you have would likely clear it up (the jumping).

Well I went down to RS and bought some cleaner lube stuff and gave it a couple of blasts. It wouldn't be so easy. Still jumpin and squealin only on AM. Back to that question about a 1KB compared to a 2KB, will it work??

The 1k pot should be fine, a little less range but fine.

Hey guys, I'm been playing around with my Saturn trying to get this thing to stop Squealing on AM. I replaced the RF 2kb pot. But now when I leave it at 1 to 2w deadkey, it works fine. When I turn it up past that it squeals when I TX. It's not a feedback squeal. It throws a 35w deadkey squeal. Which comes over the phone, comp speakers, you name it......Once again it works fine on SSB..Any leads would be appreciated....Thanks..
