Lately I have been getting reports that I'm off frequency. The RIT is at 12 o'clock and accordding to my dispaly it is on frequency. I have been told that it is 5 cycles off. It wouldn't surprise me, it hasn't been aligned since I've had it. Would you be willing to align it? Thanx in advance.

431, I know you must be talking about SSB, but still someone is really nitpicking if they're saying your 5 cycles off. Unless your RIT is opened up for TX and Rx, your lucky to get withing 50 cycles of another station with a 2510. Your VFO clicks 100 cycles each time. Even if you know dead on where you rit should be and try to tune someone with the VFO, you can't get right on him probably, then you touch up your rit, and your split on Tx and Rx. Two peoples hearing will be more than 5 cycles different. For two or more stations to get dead on, their rits or clarifiers have to be opened up for Tx and Rx, otherwise its a guess. That's the reason you hear so many conversations with one sounding like donald duck. If its just 2 people, it makes no difference, they each have their RX tuned to the other's TX, but throw that 3rd or 4th one in the qso, thats when the problems start.

Scrapiron, I had talked to several people just a few seconds of each other in different parts of the country and they all said the same thing. My clarifier on the 2510 is locked.....the Licoln is open, and everyone says that one sounds better and is dead on freq.Hmmmmm........maybe I should get another Lincoln?? hahaha
I bought the radio used from a friend 4 or 5 yrs ago and it has been my moble unit.So I'm guessing it's due for a tune up and alignment.

431, its just really hard to get dead on people with a locked clarifier, maybe you need to get it opened up on the 2510. With the VFO (channel selector) jumping 100 counts each click its just luck if your right on their transmitt. The Ranger radios have this same problem without an opened clarifier.

DX431 the other day when I talked to you I believe you were on the 2510 and you sounded great, there was no problem on this end understanding you at all, it was a good sounding radio.
