Go to Panther Electronics Forums at http://panther-electronics.com/portal/content/content.asp?sectionid=6 There is a heavy swing mod and a similar negative peak compression mod described and discussed there.

Modulation: Cut R104
AM Power: Adjust VR6
SSB Power: Adjust VR7

SS-360FM
Modulation: Adjust VR14 or Cut R301
AM Power: Adjust VR 13
SSB Power: Adjust VR12

SS-3600

155ALAMO. I hope this may help you.

A NPC modification can be done on the EPT-6950 board in the 2950/70-DX.

1-Cut or remove R-301 to open-up the AM modulation. SSB modulation will be uneffected.

2-Solder a 100 ohm resistor to a 1N4001 diode.

3-With the radio facing you, add this combination parelleld with R-292 making sure the cathode (banded end) of the diode is to the right.

These parts can be difficult to locate without the parts layout of the radio since you are playing with "Surface Mounted Parts" here.

Good luck.

Jeff, kc0gxz.
