Well , it sounds as if the radio is not complete , the problem is you will need to find a CB shop and ask to put the correct crystals in and find out "why" the two tubes are not hooked up correctly. Sounds like someone tried to fix it. I could not begin to help without knowing who worked on it and why.

Don't worry - your radio really is all there. The black sleeves contain wires that connect to the optional speech processor, which the 'EE' doesn't have. The empty crystal sockets are for the CH1 and CH2 positions on the switch to the left of the dial. They are for optional fixed channel frequencies.

Your 101EE will operate just fine the way it is! Don't worry... I have an EE and it looks just like yours inside.

Before doing so. If has been sitting around for a while you need to warm it up slowly. Build a cardboard box about 3" bigger than the radio is all the way around. Use a trouble light and a 60 watt bulb. Take the bottome and top covers off and put it in the box and close it with the light inside. Turn the light on and leave it for about 24 hours. This will dry it out and keep you from smoking any capacitors that have drawn dampness. Is a lot easier to do this than to replace several capacitors. Tony, N5JVA

Falcon,
That is a fine radio, great audio! To me, nothing like a good ol tube Yaesu in the way they sound! Hope you have good luck, and enjoy it. Remember the ten second rule when tuning, it puts a lot less stress on everything.

Falcon, I too have an EE. I can't stress enough to follow the manual for tune up. Definatly use the 10 second rule for initial tune up. Once tuned....." DON'T TOUCH THE PLATE and LOADING AGAIN!!!!" Unless of course you have access to an unlimated supply of 6JS6C's . And don't put in American made 6JS6C's untill you've done the silver mica capacitor mod. If you follow these simple rules, you'll never want to ever sell it! These radios are fantastic!! I use a Turner SSB +2 ,a YC-601 counter and a YO-100 monitor scope.
Best of luck with it..... Urm

Had a 101 EX. Same radio with some different options. Replaced the finals after over 30 years of operating. I don't put chinese finals in anything. Always use American made finals. In fact if you call manufacturer many tell you to only use American tubes and never use chinese. Tony, N5JVA
