Ok people , I see you all liked the "Light the bulb contest" , now here is a better one. Put your CB on 27.775 AM. With a few hundred watts of dead key , drive through your favorite mall parking lot at about 5 MPH. Count the number of alarms you trip off. I did it and counted 24 alarms in a 1/4 mile radius. The reason? the 27.775 3rd harmonic is 83.325. This is the center range of several RF keys. The reason it gets past the digital code is simple front end overload. it works. Not all alarms are on this frequency however , this one is pretty common in the "Cheap Alarm" world.

My sides are still hurting from laughing so hard! Every time I was at the shop today I would set off the alarm in the boss's pick up...many times in a row :) The guys in the shop knew what was going on and were rolling on the floor! He just thought they were laughing about his alarm being goofy. I finally saw him come out of the shop with wire cutters in his hand. Yep he was gonna "cure" that dang alarm! I stopped him before it was too late, told him what I was doing, and even he got a good laugh about it.:)

Car alarms have always been hard to set off. It worked very rarely using only FM on 40 channels and using the available 100 watts. Thanks for giving us the sweet spot area to use. Another tough one is bleeding through those ultra loud automobile stereo systems with base sounds that vibrate everything. I have succeeded only with one and they quickly turned it down! Here again only FM seemed to work. I would like to know the sweet spot and mode for them too.
Thanks

I rode by a park today and saw a bunch of guys playing with RC cars. I couldn't resist, I turned around, fliped on my amp, and pulled into the park. As I rode through the parking lot I keyed and wistled into the mic and within seconds there was total chaos. RC cars were running all over the place, into people and other cars, it was great, funniest thing I've seen in a while. I don't think it matters what freq, but I was on channel 20 (regular cb) with about 150-200 watts.

I Had To Give It A Try Today At The Local Mall; As I'm Leaving The Guy Next To Me Who Just Pulled In Turns On His Alarm. I Flicked The Switch On My Amp To High, Clicked Up A Couple Bands On The Delta Force, Keyed Up And Whistled And His Alarm Went Nuts. I Was Laughing So Hard I Almost Couldn't Keep Driving. Thanks For The Tip. When I Get My 8 Pill In The Truck I Should Really Be Havig Some Fun. 8ZERO4 .

Okay, I feel the need to share. Years ago before I got into amateur radio I did a lot of stupid things out of ingorance. I ran a 2510 w/chipswitch and a Texas Star 500V almost entirely on AM. I set off my share of car alarms, but my favorite target was folks with big bumping car stereos. I'd turn my car stereo to a dead AM station and turn the volume up, turn my amp onto full power, then I'd key up my mic while on any dead AM frequency and play "feedback music" by moving the mic around. The RF would snake it's way into the big stereo amps if they weren't well installed and I'd laugh my head off as they frantically tried to turn off the noise. Sometimes they could, and sometimes they couldn't. One guy finally just opened his door and got out of the car. I think he rethought his installation method after that.

I made a page once at Toys R Us right before Easter. I drove past the front of the store at just an idle and keyed up on AM with full power. A CB friend of mine was inside shopping for Easter presents for his son. I said something like "Happy Easter to all of our customers from everyone at Toys R Us. And a special thanks to (CB friend's handle)." 10 minutes later he called me on the radio still laughing. He and his wife heard the page and thought it was just a normal page from the store manager until I mentioned him by name. His wife told me that he literally fell to the floor laughing and couldn't get up for a while. People were staring at him.

While I was deliving pizza I keyed up right next to the store. When I got back printer paper was all over the floor. It seems the RF caused the printer to print page after page of gibberish and only stopped when they finally decided to turn the printer off. I was asked to not key up my radio anywhere near the building again. They knew it was me because they heard my voice coming out of all of the speakerphones even though noone was using one at the time.

There was a person with an aftermarket car alarm working at the pizza place. When I wanted to annoy her I'd drive really close to the car and key up just as I was leaving the store. Everyone who had a CB at work would laugh and talk about it on the radio, but they wouldn't tell her so she didn't have any idea it was me. She'd have to drop what she was doing and run outside to turn it off with the kill switch because the remote didn't work for some reason. But she'd always reset it. One night she was particularly unpleasant and I guess I didn't help by setting off the alarm 5 times in three hours.

I should add that once I learned how I was polluting the air waves with my amplifier I stopped using it and haven't used it since. But even when I was using it I made sure my radio was clean and I didn't splatter. My amp was AB1 and worked well with AM and SSB.
