An ab1 amp say with 2 2879s driving 6 2879s for say 350 watts am,700 watts ssb,is there something in the works like this,I've got a boomer 400 it's perfect for my 2517 on ssb it avgs. 404watts how about one that avgs.800 watts with same drive(29watts)say 4 1446s driving 8 2290s or 2879s,under $500.00? |

better post a new thread at bottom of amplifier page or it may not be noticed on this one,you see I started this one in dec.26 2002 and everyone thought it was a stupid question,probably because I asked it,so you better start a new one or it will be 2 years by the time another newby posts here.Bigbob |

What you ask is totally dependant on your radios swing I don't see how you could get as little as 5 watts from a 2 pill amp with 3 in without some big swamping resistors at the input,but then you'd degrade your max output,some of these guys are dking .5 watts and swinging to 25 that may get you what you want from your modulator,or I'm just stupid or something.Bigbob |

Your not one bit stupid.. I have the same problem i ask a question and it either gets ignored or someone will come back with a smart alleck answer.. Oh well, I guess some of us dont fit in the cliques on here..... I dunno anymore.... |

Well there was this guy some time back that bought a 2990 and wanted to know if it was too big for a kl60,he was answered with one word a YES and said thanks,and that was it,I guess I answered my own post here,I just wanted to know if there was a higher output model tube or transistor that could be driven efficiently with the dx2517,now 307 said it would drive the klv1000 4-tuber but would be off about 200 watts from full output which would make it twice the output of the boomer400 but the klv would last a long long time because of the lowered input from radio,so actully this post has been answered in other threads,I just don't understand this guys Q. an amp that will dk 5 watts with 3 watts dk from radio you cant do it and get those swing numbers,it's impossible.Bigbob |
