I bought a 2950DX that has had the AM mod limiter removed. Can someone tell me the precise location and value of the part for replacement?
Can I get the part at radioshack, or do I have to order one from RCI?

hello,Bigfoot.
the "limiter" is Q-39 it is a 2sc945 you should be able to find one at radio shack for pennies. most techs that dare remove a limiter will tape it inside the radio some where. when you re-install the limiter you will most likely not be able to get to 100% modulation, i suggest you try one of two methods, 1 install a 1kohm resistor in series with the emitter of the transistor, or 2 install a 5k variable (mini)resistor in series with the emmitter, you should be able to get one of the two at radio shack as well. if the local radio shack cant get it for you try parts.com they have a $20.00 min purchase so i sugest if you order from them that you look around and find everything else you can think of that you need and order it all at once this will save you a lot in shipping and tax versis ordering it one peace at a time. |

A late post here. I want to replace the limter or install a resister as above. If I install the 2sc945 then which pins and direction should I install it? Board pins are in a triangle with 2 pins towards the rear. Where is the emitter for the resistor? |

If looking at the flat side the emitter is the one on the right. B,C,E (Base,Collector, Emitter) Same as the 2SC-299-E |

HIGH. FIVE I AM LOOKING FOR THE SAME MOD AS THE 2950. I THINK IT IS CALLED SUPER SWING MOD.BUT FOR THE DX 98 VHP I HAVE LOOKED ALL OVER CAN NOT FIND MODS 4 THE EPT690010D BORD.NEED THE NUMBER OF THE AUDIO LIMITER SO WE CAN PUT RESISTOR ON THE LIMITER. OR IS IT A DIODE.1N4002?? or compacitor? that thay put on the limiter? thank you 4 your time |
