my galaxy wont dead key over 4 watts
ive try turning it like 2517 but
nothing works

Sure sounds like one of the two final transistors has died. They made a batch or two of Saturns 8 years or so back that had the insulating washer on the final mounting screws 'cocked' at an angle, not quite centered in the hole on the metal tab. Eventually, the white ceramic shoulder washer would fall into place, now centered in the hole. This had the effect of loosening the final or driver mount screw. When this happens, an air gap opens up between the transistor and the heat sink. Soon after, the transistor overheats and fails. If you have a way to check the final transistors for failure, I predict that one of them will show either an open circuit, or leakage resistance between the base and emitter legs. It will continue to transmit so long as one of the two finals is still working, but at reduced power.

them two in and see what happens a few of my freind said the same thing to me
im verry good with mikes and tuneups but i dont think i want to try to put in finals yet

if you don't have a way to test them and even if you do have a way to test them, the easiest way to confirm that one of the finals is gone is to pull all the legs of one up and tx. if you still have tx output, then put those legs back and pull the legs of the other final up and then tx. you may get lucky the 1st time and pull the legs of the right final up. you have a 50% chance. if it does turn out to be one has died, then it is best to replace both with a matched pair. and while you are at it, you may even want to replace those 'chiclet' type insulators with the much thinner mica's. |
