I have looked through the posts and tried to find the answer to this question.When I turn off the radio it does not hold any memory and when it is turned back on it displays 26.000. I think I have the type(orange display) that has a battery. Is this battery located on the vertical pc board just in back of all the push buttons?I think I found it, a closed round black plastic holder but did not want to take the whole radio apart if I was not correct. Since this looks to be like a watch battery can this be modified to another type of battery? I have heard talk of this is there any perk from doing this ?Thank you for any input. Rick |

Try the Search area By Keyword and type in "2950 Battery"

You can use a Smoke Alarm Battery (9V)which is Lithium and put a 4.7K ohm resistor in series with it. It will last a few years. I replace ALL batteries with this type.

OOOOOHH man!! Now why didn't I think of that? And here I went to all the bother and installed a stupid 2X 1.5 AA Rat Shack battery box in one of my personal 2950s. LOL.
307, your answers are so common-sense correct, simple, and to the point, they make me sick. But you sure have taught this old dude some neat little tricks. I could read your stuff all day if time allowed.

Thanks for the input,I took the front off and found what I thought was the battery holder to be the little beep speaker.So,unless this battery is extremely hidden I guess I do not have one.I will re-read all the posts again unless someone knows right up front why the radio would reset every time it is shut off(assuming no battery). I do appreciate any info. |

I just changed my battery out last week...The R.beep unit was black-foam double back taped to the face of the battery mostly hiding the battery. I replaced w/ a 8" jumper & a solder-on batt. at least its not too hard to replace now. |
