Well, against my better judgement and yours also, I acquired a Superstar 4900B.

No it didn't cost much, but anything was obviously too much.

Problem: When the radio is keyed, it acts like there is a direct short somewhere in the keying circuit. It attempts to shut down, lights go very dim and then when unkeyed, it starts it's startup routine over. You know says "HELLO"

Any ideas. Do you think that the previous owner may have shorted the center pin to #4? Oh well, this is probably a good lesson learned.

Power supply.Try an external of at least 7 amps.
