I put a new light bulb in the swr meter on my cobra 142. NOW 3 DAYS later the bulb is out on both meters.I checked the bulbs and there not burnt out and there no lose wires i even tryed other blubs and now no lights in the meters.whys it doing this?..one more question this radio says on the back its made in 1992 what chip does it have inside and how can you tell?thanks

You should have the 8719 PLL in it.

As for the Lights trace the wires to board and check with Volt/Ohm Meter to make sure you have power at the Board for them.

It could just be a cold / bad solder connection.

Thats a good chip to jump. Covers the whole upper freeband.
