R-249 , however , I don't recommend cutting it because of TVI and other related interference that most likly will take place.

Sidewinder instead of cutting r-249, replace it with a 33k 1/4 -1/2 watt resistor then you will have all the audio you need!!I did that and people think i am running a d-104 when i am only using a stock hand microphone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

found the right place i think .... the saturn has 6 bands ... well mine is good for maybe 3 of them, then it loses both modulation and power ... i put it in the shop, and the tech told me it was a narrow banded radio, and its doing the best it can do .... if that is correct ... WHY does it have 6 bands ... can i change crystals or something to have a full 6 bands of talking(25.615-28.305).... or do i need to find another tech ????

Nevet's111,

If you do not have a Multi Band Antenna and Tunner you will not get Maximum performance from all of the bands.

If your Antenna is tuned for the center of the 11 Meter CB Band that is where you will have your best performance and power.

The farther you get away from the 11 Meter/CB band, (ABOVE or BELOW) the band, the more performance & power you will lose.

For your radio to perform well on ALL Bands you will need a Multi Band Antenna that will Cover ALL band's and a good Antenna Tuner

However if you think it may be a problem with the Radio drop Tech8541@copperelectronics.com a note and I am sure he will be glad to help you.

Hope this help's.

Lon ... great ... now the question is ... DO I .... I am running a A-99, i set the swr's for
25.615 - 28.305(flat to 1.2) ,,,, and a Maco Comet with the same set up(1.1 - 1.3) .... i talk to people with these same antenna's and they go to these freq's. .... maybe i'm listening to the wrong people around here about the wrong things ????
hahahahahhahahaha

ok to follow up the last message . i did some checking, here are the results :
A-99 --- SWR === power
25.615 - 1.2 === 3-3/4W - 7-3/4W
26.965 - 1.1 === 4-1/2W - 8-1/2W
28.305 - 1.1 === 3-1/2W - 7-1/2W

Maco Comet ---
Verticle - SWR === power
25.615 - 1.1 === 3-1/2W - 7-1/2W
26.965 - 1.3 === 4W - 8W
28.305 - 1.3 === 3-1/2W - 7-1/2W
Horizontal - SWR === Power
25.615 - 1.3 === 2W - 5W
26.965 - 1.1 === 4-1/2W - 8-1/2W
28.305 - 1.2 === 3W - 7W

now the A-99 and the beam are pretty close ....
this radio and/or antenna is geared for the reg CB band, but by these figures I should be doing better on the lower channels, than i'm doing ....
logically ..... ?????

NOW ... am i missing something .... or expecting too much out of the radio and antenna ????
thanks steve

I wouldn't worry about it at all. Nobody will be able to see any difference on the receiving end anyway, and those readings are probably just errors in the meter from the slightly different SWR conditions of you antenna and feedline. I'll bet any 6 band radio you try on there will show similar readings.

But 808 is right, you can't go wrong if you send it to Tech8541, you will get it back in the best possible working condition, should you feel the need to have it checked out and tuned up.
