I have a 2990 that's a bit strange. The rodger beep will still work when turned off on AM or FM.When opeating in any other mode it will turn off. Also, when you key the mic,it beeps like you're pressing a button on the keypad. This has me stumped.Any explanation's????
Thank's in advance!

the last part of your post is normal for the 2990(cpu beep when ptt is pressed).

for the r.beep staying on in am/fm mode, we first need to know if the r.beep is actually still on or if something on the main board is adding voltage to the r.beep circuit. the r.beep is turned on by cup gnding the circuit. when the r.beep is off there will be 8v.

i will not tell you how to do test this -UNLESS- you are very comfortable with electronic troubleshooting because the cpu for the non-dx 29xx series radio is no longer available. since you will be testing the output of the cpu here, it will be easy to damage the cpu, turning that expensive radio into a boat anchor.

Ss8541,yes i am very comfortable with troubleshooting.I am a technician for a local broadcast FM station. However,i'm just now venturing into the CB repair thing.I have all the proper test eqquimpment necessary to make any type of repair or alignment.I'm thinking that something on the main board is causing this also.I just obtained this radio so i dont know what mod's if any have been done to it.But,i'll check whatever is necessary to find the problem.Thank's for your reply and any futher info you can give me on this!

Ss8541,thank's for the info. However my problem is within the cpu.And i re-checked and found that the beep is constantly on in all mode's.The beep even work's with the harness dissconected from cpu board.Everything is working just fine though.I got the cpu schematic so i might do a little bit more probing to see if i can isolate the problem with out doubt.I'll let ya know what i come up with.Thank's for your time!
Danny
