I know I've heard to keep the dead key low on these amps.( 1.5 to 2.5 watts) What I'm wondering is what is a safe wattage input for SSB? I talk almost always on SSB. The manufacture says 1-10 watts input on AM, and 2-20 on SSB. Just wondering if a stock radio's 12 watt PEP output on SSB is too much for it. Thanx for any useful suggestions. 226 / Mark |

Mark,
no that 12 watts PEP will work fine. With SSB being all modulated carrier driven, even higher than 12 watts will just drive it sweet. I think you will like that 400.

Alsworld, thanx for the input. Just don't want to overdrive it too much. And yes I think this amp is the stuff, especially for the money. My power supply is only a 20 amp, so I can't get full potential out of it right now without hooking it up to a battery. But anyway I got that toy for the mobile.
