Like to know how to,add a variable pot to my 29 so i can dial down my carrier? |

if you go to any of the search engines and type this in, you'll find many sites that just don't tell you how to do it, but also show you. just follow the instructions carefully or you will burn up the variable pot that you use.
don't think that i don't want to tell you how, its just that this mod is in so many places in better ways than i can tell you. |

To save the life of the potentiometer (usualy the delta tune or simmilar "useless" control) folow the instructions you find that add a new transistor. The transistor isolates the high current from the pot, thus saving it from a short life. |

Cm3885, have you heard of a jp6 mod for a cobra 29ltd classic? I have the specs around here somewhere but what you do is throw in a capacitor and resistor by the back final and you can bring your carrier down to a 1/2 watt and it takes nothing away from the swing. Opens it up big time. It's also a lot nicer to run an amp with the carrier so low too. Let me know if you're interested and I'll try and find those specs in my books somewhere. I seen this on a website about 4 years ago and did the same mod on a cobra 25NW and it did the same thing.

In regards to that mod can you make the carrier say key up about 3 watts? I like to run my radios at 3 watts and let them swing from there. |
