Got a K40 compressor mic and want to try it on a Cobra 2000...do I need to do the resistor/diode inside the radio? Looks like it uses the hot line to charge the cap?? I don't know the mic color code either..no info from American Any experience with the on air audio/tone etc? And thanks for fixing me on my D104...long story short the squeal is gone and it was the shield going to 2 instead of 4...DUH!!!! Thanks and Happy New Year Ind224 Stu |

Stu, The cobra uses 8 volts on the switching line to key the radio. You may choose to not do the resitor/diode mod, since this is enough to charge the cap. However, every time you turn your radio on, it will key up for a second while the cap charges. Not a problem, this will not harm anything. |

Well, I never did hook this up to the Cobra but it kicks butt on my Grant XL. No more 7v battery hassles with the +3 mobile I was using ... very loud and I never knew that it had a adjustment. Open window at 50MPH and all they hear is your voice.Try that with the D104 hand held!!! I'd recommend this to anyone that wants a power mic and more gain than they will ever use. Just wired it up like a normal mike to the Grant and did not have to diode or resistor as you said. Thanks again, Stu |
